Gold Award in the Seafood Category and Product of the Year by SFA 2022 sofi™ Awards
Sterling Caviar Royal Grade has won the Product of the Year as part of the Specialty Food Association's (SFA) 2022 sofi™ Awards, a top honor in the $170.4 billion specialty food industry.
This award followed Sterling Caviar's win, the previous month, of the sofi™ Gold Award in the Seafood Category. This the first time in the history of the sofi™ Awards where caviar, as a first-time entry, has taken home the top "Gold Award in the Seafood Category" and "Product of the Year".
Products are judged on taste, including flavor, appearance, texture and aroma, ingredient quality, and innovation. All tastings are anonymous and are held at the Rutgers Food Innovation Center.
Award of Excellence of 2022 American Masters of Taste
Sterling Caviar was declared a "2022 U.S.A. Taste Champion" by American Masters of taste with the lead judge stating, “If the Sterling Caviar grades were cars, the Supreme would be a Rolls Royce and the Royal would be a Bentley.”
Supreme Caviar and Royal Caviar were all judged “Excellent” in Northern California by a panel of Masters of Taste selected by Chefs in America in 2022.
The judging panel uses 'triple blind' judging protocols which include the following ground rules to ensure accurate and fair result.
During the judging process, evaluators do not know:
Who the manufacturer is
What the product variety of appellation is
What the other evaluators scores and comments are during evaluation
Sterling Caviar White Sturgeon is recognized by Monterey Bay Aquarium as a Seafood Watch "Best Choice"
The Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch program lists white sturgeon as ‘Least Concern’ on their seafood sustainability guide. The program assesses how fisheries and aquaculture operations perform against science-based standards for environmental sustainability.
